Laser hair removal vs. ingrown hairs

Sometimes, a few days after shaving, waxing or sugaring, bumps appear on the skin, under which ingrown hairs are hidden. In some cases, the lumps turn red and become even more of an inconvenience. Such inflammations are especially upsetting in the summer, when you want to show off your beautiful legs or go to the beach. But is hair removal possible without ingrown hairs?

Ingrown hairs – why and how?

Theoretically, any hair that is subjected to mechanical stress, such as being pulled out or cut, has the potential for ingrown hairs. Regular trauma during depilation simultaneously leads to thinning of the hair and coarsening of the epidermal cells, and sometimes to the appearance of microscars. As a result, the growing hair cannot penetrate the thickened skin and begins to curl inward or to the side.

For men, ingrown hairs most often appear on the face and shaved scalp. For women, mostly legs, armpits and intimate area are affected. Those at higher risk include people with dark, coarse, curly hair and thick, dry skin. Some of them constantly face this problem, in which case ingrown hairs are considered a skin disease.

Its symptoms include:

• papules – small dense bumps;

• pustules – suppuration similar to pimples;

• hyperpigmentation – darkening of the skin;

• pain and itching.

Since these signs resemble the symptoms of inflammation of the hair follicles, ingrown hair disease is called pseudofolliculitis. Those whose hair grows at too sharp an angle relative to the surface of the skin are especially predisposed to it.

A side effect of depilation is ingrown hair!

Mechanical hair removal, in which epidermal cells are injured and compacted, is not called epilation, but depilation. This includes shaving, waxing and sugaring. If during the process the hair breaks off below the level of the epidermis, ingrown hairs cannot be avoided.

In addition, the causes of ingrowth include:

• Hormonal changes

• Damage to the hair canal

• Skin injuries

• Wearing tight synthetic underwear and tight-fitting clothing.

Thus, the problem of ingrown hairs is always associated with mechanical hair removal. If instead of depilation you choose DIODE LASER EPILATION, ingrown hair automatically ceases to be a problem.

Laser hair removal for ingrown hairs

Laser hair removal using Medilase Pro, a European-certified and modern diode laser device, is universally considered the most effective and painless way to get rid of excess hair.

But most importantly, it never causes ingrown hairs.

Unlike depilation, which stimulates the thickening of the epidermis, laser removal does not mechanically affect the hair.

A completely different principle is used here: a light wave with a length of 800 nm, without injuring the skin, penetrates directly into the hair follicle and destroys it by heating up.

After the procedures, hairs fall out, and new ones grow less and less.

Laser hair removal is a good prevention of ingrown hairs, or pseudofolliculosis.

After completing a full course of laser hair removal procedures at The Now Beauty Lab salon, you can forget about the problem of ingrown hairs once and for all.
