LASER EPILATION. We continue to answer your questions.

In the skillful hands of a specialist, the laser has become an elegant and powerful weapon in the fight against unwanted body hair. The popularity of laser hair removal is easy to explain: compared to similar procedures, it stands out for its efficiency, speed and painlessness.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM DEPILATION?

Depilation is the removal of the hair shaft above the surface of the skin while preserving its follicle. This includes shaving, pulling out hair with tweezers or wax, chemical hair removal, sugaring, depilation with thread or electric depilator.

These methods always injure the surface layer of the skin. As a protective reaction, the layer of dead cells increases. The result is ingrown hairs, irritation and rough skin.

Laser hair removal is the removal of hair along with the follicle. During laser hair removal, the entire hair is removed along with the root, bulb, capillaries that fed it, and precursor cells.

AT WHAT AGE CAN YOU DO IT?

There are no age restrictions for the procedure, but it is not recommended for children.

During puberty (12-16 years), girls and boys actively grow hair: both coarse and vellus. Therefore, in order to remove hair using laser hair removal, they will have to spend many more sessions with short pauses than adults.

HOW MANY PROCEDURES ARE NEEDED AND WHAT DOES IT DEPEND ON?

You will notice the result after 4-6 procedures. This is an approximate framework; the course may consist of 10 or even 15 sessions. It depends on the epilation area. A full course for the body consists of 10 sessions, and for the face – up to 10-12.

During each procedure, the laser affects the follicle in the growth stage, that is, active hair. After its destruction, other bulbs are activated to compensate for the loss. They begin to grow from scratch and the hairs appear again. Therefore, several sessions are required.

In total, there will be several waves of active growth of dormant follicles, each subsequent wave less and less pronounced: there will be fewer hairs, they will lighten and become thinner. The number of these waves and the necessary procedures depends on the individual characteristics of the body. After all the bulbs are destroyed, you will forget about unwanted hair on your body for a long time.

HOW LONG DOES THE EFFECT LAST?

After completing the course, the result lasts from 2 to 5 years. This depends on the area being epilated and individual characteristics.

BREAK BETWEEN EPILATION SESSIONS

It is necessary to take intervals between sessions. Laser hair removal is performed no more often than once every 30-50 days. This is due to the fact that the procedure is carried out only during the hair renewal phase.

A specialist will set a specific date for repeating the procedure and tell you how many times you will do hair removal in a certain period of time.

After several procedures, the intensity of hair growth decreases.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE BREAK BETWEEN SESSIONS AND WHY ARE BREAKS NEEDED?

During the procedure, the visible part of the hairs (actively growing) is burned using laser irradiation. The roots remaining deep in the skin, as the epidermis is renewed, will rise to the surface of the skin and fall out. This process usually takes several weeks.

After all the roots fall out, dormant hair follicles begin to sprout. When they begin to bother you, a repeat procedure is required to completely remove the hairs.

HOW LONG AFTER EPILATION DOES HAIR FALL OUT?

A small amount will drop out at the end of the session. The bulk – within 7-10 days. After the first epilation, only 10-25% of hairs will fall out.

If we are talking about 90-95% hair removal, for this you need to undergo a full course of laser hair removal procedures.

IS LASER EPILATION HARMFUL?

No, the procedure is completely safe if performed correctly.

Light waves do not penetrate deeper than the subcutaneous fat, so they cannot affect internal organs.
